The Polar Regions: Arctic & Antarctic

In August 2022, a team of researchers published findings in Communications Earth & Environment that stated “the Arctic has warmed nearly four times faster than the globe since 1979.” Comparably, in September 2023, scientists from the National Snow and Ice Data Center reported “Antarctic sea ice winter maximum is lowest on record by a wide margin.” The Polar Regions documentary and fine art photography project examines the potential impact of this scientific evidence and aims to translate these alarming findings to the public.

Pairing imagery from the front lines of the climate crisis with scientific evidence is at the centre of this project.
